tmc Builds Digital Twin of Railway Track Appenweier – Lahr

Point cloud along a railroad line

Tech Insights

tmc is creating a digital twin of both the tunnel and the open track between Appenweier and Lahr for Deutsche Bahn by order of OBERMEYER Infrastruktur GmbH & Co. KG. The digital twin can be further used in the future as-built model and frames the basis for the planning.

tmc employees and tmc software tmENV were deployed on the highly innovative measurement vehicle of Plasser & Theurer equipped with three laser scanners and two high-frequency cameras in April 2021.

Due to the driving speed of 60 km/h and the use of gaps in the timetable of regular trains, rail traffic was hardly affected.

The three-dimensionality of the twin allows planners better visualizations as well as the avoidance of time-consuming site inspections and operational interventions.

The digitalization of the economy (incl. the railway world) advances at an unstoppable pace. tmc would like to support you in your digitalization project, for more information about tmENV click here or contact us.
